Neal Rogness and DataFest Students

The Statistics Department at Grand Valley State University hosted a local DataFest competition for the third time last March. Teams of students from GVSU, as well as two nearby institutions, participated in the 48-hour event. During the weekend, the students first learn of and become acquainted with the data, decide upon a question to answer, analyze the data, and prepare/present a 10-minute presentation summarizing their findings. Teams are judged in four categories including Best Insight, Best Visualization, and Best Use of External Data. Representatives from three of the four winning teams from the 2019 competition will discuss various aspects of their experiences via a panel presentation.
